Selling Your Home on Long Island

How do open houses work when selling my home?

Written and reviewed by Andrew Ragusa, Licensed Real Estate Broker and Broker of Record, REMI Realty LLC — 11+ years of transactions across Long Island, Brooklyn and Queens.

The short answer

I plan an open house as part of the property’s broader pricing and marketing strategy. Before the event, the seller and I walk through the home, secure belongings, agree on house preferences, collect known property information and choose a schedule that fits the property and the seller. See how I prepare the home and how I choose the timing.

At the event, I manage visitor check-in through my digital portal, explain the applicable disclosures, answer questions and circulate when available. Approximately 30 minutes after sign-in, an automated email sends the visitor the digital listing information, and I coordinate any further questions, interest and offers. Read the check-in process or what happens after the open house.
